ABOUT US
The Founder
In 1955, Shri Pundalik Ambaji Karle and his colleagues built the Shirgaon Panchakroshi School with sincere thoughts of helping the children of Shirgaon and the neighbouring areas that could not travel too far for school nor could afford basic education. Shri Karle believed education was a key investment to build a strong community with a bright future for native village.
As a child, Pundalik Karle walked five miles to the school at Kandivali and, it was during one of these long walks that he took an oath that one day he would build a school in his very own village- A school that was accessible to the local children whereby they would not have to travel far for an education.
Thanks to a generous donation from Shri Arvindsheth Mafatlal, Shri Karle fulfilled his dream to build Shirgaon Panchakroshi School. Through Shri Karle's sheer dedication and vision, the school was established and continues to grow today.
Mr. Karle had support from his friends like A.R Satam, Dr. Aair, V.S Satsam, Bhakaji Labdhe, Bhagwan Tawde, N.R Chavan, Dinakar Satam, Gangaram Tawde, Ambaji Chavan A, Satam(Guruji) Ram Phatak, M Narayan Tawde and many more helped to collect funds for school. And other people who lived in Shirgaon gave donation. Kulkarni Family from Koloshi donated the land for school.
School actually started in 1957 Mr. G.T Satam was the first teacher in the school. Shri Pundalik Karle went on to become a mechanical engineer and, was the first Indian executive at the Bombay Port Trust after the British left India. Even through his successful career, Shri Karle continued to put efforts towards the Shirgaon School. We salute Shri Karle for establishing and dedicating his life toward the Shirgaon School.
Today the School has 1200 children from Shirgaon and neighbouring villages from various classes - all with the hope of fulfilling their dreams and having successful lives much like Shri Karle. Shirgaon Panchakroshi is fortunate to have an excellent staff who is dedicated to the school and the children.
